Lisa"My gym membership came up for renewal recently and it made me realize that you have been open over a year already. You should be very proud of the facility you have built. CLHC is absolutely first class! The variety of the equipment is amazing, not to mention the number of machines that are available. I always find the gym to be extremely clean, well supplied and there are always extra learning events and training sessions being offered. Although I have been a member since last year I did not really embark on a serious workout program until six months ago. It took me a while to book working out into my busy schedule, but I finally just had to decide that only I could take control of my life. Along with adhering to a food plan, I have included 3-4 weekly visits to my club and here are some results: Linda
"Last February I embarked on a goal to lose weight. Towards the end of July, I had reached my original goal. Now began the difficult task of maintaining that goal and not allowing myself to slip into the expected norm of gaining it all back. I knew that some further changes were necessary. We had recently received a CLHC newsletter delivered to our home and I asked my husband to go with me for a tour of the club. He agreed to take the tour and as they say, the rest is history. We were shown around the facility and questions were asked and answered. We were both very impressed with the set up and the friendly, helpful staff. We joined and immediately made CLHC part of our daily routine. Lester"Like everyone else I lead a hectic life. I work out of town and have 3 kids. I decided in January 2007 to make my health a priority since I was feeling tired, stressed and weighed almost 390lbs. I joined CLHC when they first opened as it was close to home. When I first started to workout, I just did cardio thinking that was how to lose the most weight. After some research I learned that I should include weight training into my routine. I was doing it the old school way - big weights and big reps until I met Will, a trainer at the gym. He said to incorporate a circuit program into my routine. I realize that you need to keep changing your program so your body does not get used to the workout. Over the past year I have lost over 100lbs, I’m more flexible and fitter. I have lost the weight slowly to ensure I do not get other health problems associated with rapid weight loss. I can move easier and everyday activities are not as challenging. Mary"My personal training experience at CLHC has indeed been a positive one. Last year my husband and I joined CLHC because it was close to home. Being in our fifties we were both feeling our age and felt the need to work on our level of fitness, or lack thereof. I have never been a gym member anywhere before and seeing the main fitness floor was very overwhelming, so I spent a few months doing time on the treadmill and bike in the women's only area. I got to the stage where I was bored but challenged enough to want to do more and try different things, but what and how? Bruce"I am a new member and wanted to tell you just how much I appreciate being apart of CLHC. The people/venue and equipment are beyond measure. The first person to whom I spoke with was Marvin. As my initial contact, he was terrific. My second contact was Erin. Not only does this young lady possess infinite talent, but personality as well. My third contact was Will R., one of your personal trainers. He could not do enough for me in getting me started on the equipment. He has been so patient and understanding. The initial self imposed intimidation factor vanished because of this young man. Finally, I must mention the ladies at the front desk. I never arrive without a "hello" or leave without a "goodbye". I was a little skeptical in the beginning; however, the above mentioned individuals have allayed any fears that I might have had. I actually eagerly anticipate my time spent at your club. I will have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending CLHC to others. No doubt, they will enjoy it every bit as much as I do. Congratulations on providing such an incredibly nurturing environment. Collectively, you people are family in the first degree and I'm honoured to be one of your many members. I thank each one of you." John"My mid life crisis started at the age of 50 when I found that I topped the scales at 194 lbs. I took control of my eating habits and was able to lose 1.5 lbs a week. I then set myself a goal of running a marathon. I ran my first marathon at the age of 55 and qualified for the Boston Marathon after the 2nd attempt. Gary Doyle
"This is Gary Doyle for Columbia Lake Health Club. It’s encouraging to see so many of you joining the team. It’s been a few months for me and now the workouts are getting tougher… That’s because I can handle more now. The trainer I work with is very careful to not give me too much, but just enough to push me to the next level. One of the best things that’s happened to me is weight loss. I know I’ve been there before, but this time with one eye on portion size and the other on exercise, it’s just working. I’ve lost over 35lbs since June and haven’t felt like I’m missing out at the dinner table…you view things differently. If I choose to eat more than I should, I translate that into hours in the gym to burn it off. It’s a different way to look at things. I’m not denying myself, I’m just doing the work to keep myself on track. The pro’s at Columbia Lake Health Club don’t expect perfection. They expect effort and reward it. You’ll quickly learn that you’re worth the investment. The equipment is top notch and there’s lots of it, so your workout time is not wasted waiting around. The trainers want to help you become healthier, but you still have to do the work. The pro’s at Columbia Lake Health Club make the difference. It’s the total package. The right equipment, the right attitude and the right combination to ensure your success."
